Dashcam Review – An Entertaining, Suspenseful, Psychological Drama

Dashcam, from Gravitas Ventures, brings to the screen a contemporary film noir, as the Covid pandemic has regulated life to remote, a Halloween evening assignment turns into the chance of a lifetime, or is it?

The film begins with Jake, played by Eric Tabach, a timid video editor for the New York City local station, NY3 in the Morning, working on an assignment for the on-air anchor, Tim, played by Zachery Booth. As it is during the Covid pandemic, all the dialogue between Jake and Tim are through facetime.

Four Hours at The Capitol Review – Unfiltered Front-Line Account of January 6 Siege

As we see everyone is talking about the story of the former New York AG Lieberman, played by Larry Fassenden, a notorious drunk, who pulled a gun on a cop at a during a routine traffic shot and they both ended up dead at the scene.

While waiting for the NYPD to send over the dashcam video to drop into the story so he can load it onto the station server for the morning news, Jake has facetime conversations with his girlfriend, Mara, played by Giorgia Whigham, who begs him to pop into the annual Halloween party, which this year is virtual, with her friends, Gareth, played by Giullian Yao Gioiello, and Rachel, played by Noa Fisher.

The email from the NYPD finally arrives. Opening the link, he finds that he has been sent dashcam video evidence that tells a completely different story. Suddenly, we are in the middle of this story, we hear the police officer receiving the instructions to stop the vehicle, we hear the interactions between the two men, and we hear the exchange of gunfire.

Implanted Review – Contemporary Sci-Fi Thriller Delivers on Futuristic Story

From the dashcam, which is now being played out of Jake's computer we see the facts emerging and those being presented are quite different. Suddenly he receives a phone call. The caller explains the importance of deleting the video as it could expose a more sinister truth.

Working alone from his small studio apartment in NYC, Jake uses his skills as an editor to analyze the footage and piece together the truth behind what actually happened. Has he uncovered a conspiracy that he can break on the morning news? Or is he seeing things that aren't really there?

Jake desperately wants to break into the news business. Working with Tim, who personifies the talking empty head, he is sure he is a better news reporter, and he may be and like so many he never got the chance.

AS he slowly unpacks the evidence, it flashes on the screen, the gun which has a full clip, the autopsy reports, the crime scene photos and then the audio. We hear the phone conversations, last words, and emotion.

With what seems like clues, Jake decides to follow his instincts.

Birds of Paradise Review – Entertaining, Beautifully Choregraphed, Captivating

Dashcam will become a classic film noir of the Covid generation. Filled with heightened suspense, the tension builds as our hopeful journalist, who quite by accident discovers the possibility of a treacherous that implicates the governor of New York, and the New York City police.

Utilizing social distancing and Covid protocols, the film is seen entirely from the main actor's point of view. The audience is led through what he considered his behind the scenes existence, we see his use of Adobe Premium Pro, we enter his life through facetime and the new normal of the Covid pandemic in NYC.

Dashcam, a psychological drama, filled with tension, is a sleeper hit. See it.
