The Painter’s Wedding Book Review – A Beautiful Collection of Event Inspirations

The Painter's Wedding, from author Kristy Rice and Schiffer Publishing, brings to the pages a fresh take on the world of wedding themes, from decorations to invitations, with inspirations drawn from great master painters and their significant work.

The beautifully crafted, soft cover, reference guide provides within the 304 pages of ideas inspired by those forerunners, who stood staring at a blank canvass, or gazing across a horizon, through a lens at the golden wheat field, pausing long enough to capture the beam of sunlight as it breaks through the darkened clouds.

The White Dress Destinations Book Review – Complete; Removes the Guesswork When Planning that Special Day

With chapters dedicated to Georgia O'Keeffe, Andrew Wyeth, Pantone, John Singer Sargent, Mr. Salvatore Dali, Monet, Maxfield Parrish, Giotto, Frida Kahlo, Edward Hopper, Andy Warhol, Moran, Dorothy Draper, and The Bauer Brothers, the author presents what period they emerged, their significant works, suggestions and ideas surrounding a theme and then formulates the necessary details.

Flowers, the white orchid, were what held mystery to artist Georgia O'Keefe, (1887-1986) and her dedicated body of work attests to a belief of perfectionist effort to tune the eye to see more accurately her world, the world of flowers.

Following an introduction to the artist, the author presents an inspired wedding theme, with quotes from the artist, and pages bursting with ideas from invitations, place settings, decorations, desserts, the Wedding Cake and other minute details, which may go as unnoticed at the folds on a flower petal.

From the great surrealist painter Mr. Salvador Dali, (1904-1989) who lived a life he created with the desire to have the world watch for the purpose of showcasing his artistic expressions, Rice, suggests finding ways to make the wedding day unlike any other.

"Those who do not imitate anything, produce nothing," Dali said. The idea of course is that certain elements are present in every wedding, just as certain elements are necessary in every snowflake to make it float from the heavens and yet no two snowflakes are alike.

Building on that theme Dali and out author suggests taking the road less traveled. Allow for the whimsical, how far depends on the parties involved. The freedom to create a day that will always be remembered.

Experts in Wedding Planning are also included and Jes Gordon, owner and creative director of jesGORDON/properFUN suggests, "For every four design rules you follow, you should always break on to give that unexpected Wow! Factor and to keep your creative juices flowing as a true artist and as an artist who is true to him or herself."

In each artist chapter Rice puts for the challenge of "Thinking Like A Painter" and then for each artist defines what particular concepts were utilized. For Dali she adds, "Dali was a member of an art movement defined by an irrational juxtaposition of imagery."

Each chapter contains nearly 25 pages with introduction to the artist, the specialty and the imaginings pf what the specifics of a wedding would look like them? How would Dali, a surrealist, create a buffet? Or O'Keeffe a flower display? Or a joyful gathering by Hopper?

On now to one of my favorite 20th Century artists Edward Hopper. How can a Wedding theme be built around the loneliness of Hopper? Let's see.

101 Things To Do In Key West Book Review - A Guide To One Unforgettable Trip to Paradise (Pictures)

Rice gathers from Hoper's love of nature as many of his works are of summering at the cape or sailing. The idea behind colors of summer and his love of the sea are easy to cast. After, as colors are relatively the simple beginning, and Hopper's work vast, what would be next?

Hopper is known for agonizing for days over his work, something that many planning weddings do as well. Rice creates twenty pages of suggestions based on Hopper's painting, "Ground Swell" coloring theme, and by improvising as Edward Hopper was quested as saying, "More of me comes out when I improvise," a summer theme is built unique to the couple.

The Painter's Wedding calls for the couple to imagine that special day filled with so many details which are necessities and following their own leading, brushing the canvass of their day with hues of pinks, themes of gold, skies untouched by shade, beauty of a thousand unknown tomorrows.

Inspired by the worlds best known artists, The Painter's Wedding is available in fine book stores everywhere or at Schiffer Publishing.
