If the mistakes committed by the former president of the National Assembly are patent and inexcusable in the light of his duties, to question the functioning of the ministries and the funds granted is now a necessity.

Explanations. The resignation of François de Rugy as Minister in charge of the ecological transition will appear, as such, in a few weeks as a vague memory that will get lost in the torpor of summer. (Lemonde.fr:)

What will remain, however, will mark the spirits is, in addition to the discredit that the actions of the former minister has led to ecological action, the feeling that despite efforts by the President of the Republic, the practices of what is called the old world are still very present and, above all, well anchored in the customs of those who accede to ministerial burdens.

And it is quite likely that it will continue to be so as long as political leaders are endowed with financial means that escape, not at all control, but at least a tighter control.

Fidelity and Exemplary

It will be advisable, if the President of the Republic, intends to be faithful to his commitments, either to monitor to the nearest cent the expenses incurred by ministers and secretaries of state, or to totally reform the system of financing of the ministries and of those who occupy. Because for now, shame prevails.

And worse than all! The defiance ! If the scandal De Rugy pass like all the scandals that have so far erupted, the trace that it will leave in the opinion, already irritated, will not be erased by the resignation of the former president of the National Assembly. And now there is still the notion of exemplarity, called by all to be the prerogative of those who are appointed to positions supposed to serve the general interest.

It seems difficult to require suitors a certificate of morality just as it is difficult to subdue any taste for luxury among these same important ministers. Only here, power is often a drug that drives some to lose the sense of realities or responsibilities that fall to them.

Men are only Men. Sadly, but with such a reality that it would almost be confined to the most violent cynicism. Fake as Eve before the Apple of the Garden of Eden. Men, for some in any case, have difficulty in resisting the temptation and ease that power confers.

This is in no way about exonerating the minister at fault, far from it because its behavior further tarnished a very weakened political class, but rather to question the relevance of our mode of operation in this area. A real reflection is to be carried out on the functioning of our ministries, on the allocation of the funds granted to each one, to a monitoring protocol to apply ...

In short! To reform in depth a system that once again showed its limits by the excesses it is capable of generating. Not to engage this reflection would be masochism ...
