Uma Information Technology Names Michael Schneglberger Chief Operating Officer

Uma, the leading innovator in semantic web technology today announced that it has appointed Michael Schneglberger as chief operating officer.

Schneglberger will aid in the expansion of uma’s innovative uma SKIN™ (Semantic Knowledge Information Network) semantic display product, which has made in-roads into the corporation communications and retail markets. Schneglberger will be based at the uma headquarters in Vienna.

Previously, Schneglberger was the director of platform integration for bwin, the leader in online betting services. He was responsible for the integration of bwin’s ecommerce systems and electronic resource planning (ERP) through the company’s merger with PartyGaming Plc, in March, 2011. Prior to this, Schneglberger was the head of IT Gaming and Customer Platforms for bwin, responsible for ecommerce, CRM and datawarehouse systems. His significant contributions help grow bwin from a start-up company into the leading player in its space, building the company’s IT organization and scaling its technical platform. He is a specialist in large datawarehouse, high-volume online CRM and e-commerce environments, both in terms of development and operations.

“Michael has the ideal experience and insight into the interactive marketplace of the future, and this is quiet valuable for our expansion of the uma SKIN product into SaaS and cloud service offerings,” said Christian Doegl, founder and CEO of uma. “We anticipate an accelerated pace of both product development as well as sales in the coming year, and Michael will be an integral part of this expansion.”

Recently, uma has secured the first retail installations for uma SKIN, including leading German sports retailer SportScheck, part of the OTTO Group, and Luxury Brand Bally of Switzerland, which has created an in-store system showcase for customers that integrates uma SKIN.

Earlier this year, uma announced that it has expanded into the U.S., opening offices in New York and Santa Cruz, California. The company, which last year introduced the first semantic display product, called uma SKIN™, for digital content producers, retailers, and brands, recently announced its first installation for uma SKIN in North America at the  International Toy Fair in New York.
