Southern California Rocked With 5.2 Quake

Southern California residents were roused early from their sleep as a 5.2 temblor rocked the early morning hours shaking northern San Diego county for an estimated thirty seconds causing limited structural damage and frayed nerves.

According to the U.S. Geological Society the quake’s epicenter 13 miles Northwest of Borrego Springs, a desert region in Northern San Diego county, registered as a 5.1 and was then upgraded based on review to 5.2.

No fatalities were reported. The quake was felt a 100 miles north west causing Westside residents limited alarm. San Diego residents also felt the tremor.

Residents are bracing for aftershocks as expectation are always on the “Big One.” Media renewed efforts to have Southern California residents ready with Home Preparedness kits, especially after a minor shaking, as the time to prepare is before. Home Kits should include battery operated equipment, radio, flashlight, fresh batteries, medicines, pet needs, food, water, non-perishable items, outdoor cooking needs.

In the event of a large scale natural disaster residents should be ready to activate a 72-hour Home Plan which calls for most citizens to expect a three-day delay in standard response to services needs barring catastrophic injury or immediate medical care.

Spend a few minutes refreshing the Earthquake Preparedness Kit.
