Money News: North American, World Markets Close Up

The DOW Jones Industrial Average, continued to defy analysts who predicted a market crash, closed the trading week up for the second straight week with strong triple digit gains setting the tone as the rally continued across the ten most watched market in the world.

The DOW opened the trading week strong followed by a slow declines hitting the week low Thursday followed by a strong and decisive rally with steady gains Friday to end the trading week up at 18,191.11 (+267.05/+1.49%). Opening at 17,933.64, the DOW held a day range of 17,933.64-to-18,205.23.

Gainers include Alder BioPharmaceuticals Inc (+7.04/+23.32%) with a closing price of $37.23 per share, Stamps.com Inc (+12.38/+20.41%) with a closing price of $73.05 per share, SolarEdge Technologies Inc (+4.71/+17.85%) with a closing price of $31.10, and Relypsa Inc (+4.60/+15.36%) with a closing price of $34.54.

Losers for the week include Monster Beverage Corp closing down at $128.65 per share for a loss of (-14.88/-10.37%), Sprouts Farmers Market Inc closing down at $27.23 with a loss of (-2.98/-9.86%), Scientific Games Corp also closed down at $12.35 for a loss of (-1.26/-9.26%) and core-Mark Holding Co Inc closing down at $54.25 per share for a loss of (-4.80/-8.13%)

Active for the week included Apple Inc moved 55.55M shares in medium trading to close up at $127.60 per share for a gain of (+1.88%), Microsoft Corp in light trading moved 35.36M shares closing up at $47.75 per share with a gain of (+2.25%), Micron Technology Inc in light trading moved 34.96M shares closing down at $27.18 per share with a loss of (-0.33%) and NVIDIA Corp in light trading moved 28.66M shares, closing down at $20.83 per share for a loss of (-7.40%),

The NASDAQ closed up at 5,003.55 for a gain of (+58.00/+1.17%).

The S&P 500 also closed up at 2,116.10 for a gain of (+28.10/+1.35%).

World Markets

The ten most watched world markets including the DOW Jones Industrial, S&P500, NASDAQ, Canada's S&P TSX Composite and Mexico's IPC, the European Markets including London's FTSE 100, CAC 40 of France, and Germany's DAX, and the Asian Markets including Japan's highly traded Nikkei 225, the Hong Kong Hang Seng, the Shanghai Composite and SENEX of India all closed up.

Nikkei 225

The Japanese Nikkei 225, began the trading week up and remained consistent throughout Monday and into Tuesday when the Nikkei fell sharply with mild rallies followed by mild declines for the remainder of the trading week still managing to close up at 19,379.19 with double digit gains of (+87.20/+0.45%). 

Gainers for the week include Maruha Nichiro Corp (+125.00/+7.64%), Sojitz Corp (+18.00/+7.47%), Teijin Ltd (+22.50/+5.45%), Comsys Holdings Corp (+85.00/+5.07%).

Losers include Marubeni Corp (-29.50/-4.00%), Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co Ltd (-40.00/-2.34%), Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd (-28.00/-2.20%) and Pioneer Corporation (-5.00/-2.10%).

Active on the Nikkei include Mizuho Financial Group Inc, in 21 straight weeks of strong trading, moved 294.47M shares, and closed down at ¥233.90 for a gain of (+3.22%), Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc, in medium trading moved 97.50M shares to close up at ¥877.70 for a gain of (+4.94) Sojitz Corp, also in strong trading, moved 72.74M shares to close up ¥259.00 for a gain of (+7.47%), and Kobe Steel Ltd, in light trading, moved 47.99M shares to close down ¥209.00 for a loss of (-1.42%).

FTSE 100

London Markets opened the trading week down surging Monday followed continued with mild declines as Thursday's Election drew near. Election Day markets plummeted with steep and sharp declines, only to rally Friday, with strong rally, the market continued to rally for the remainder of the trading week to finish up at 7,046.82 with small double digit gains of (+159.87/+2.32%).

Gainers in the FTSE 100 include Babcock International Group PLC (+92.08/+9.30%), Centrica PLC (+19.20/+7.46%), St. James's Place PLC (+62.13/+6.92%) and Barratt Development PLC (+35.00/+6.82%).

Losers include Randgold Resources Ltd (-24.00/-0.50%) and Glencore PLC (-0.90/-0.30%).

Active on the FTSE 100 included Lloyds Banking Group PLC moving 452.74M shares in intense trading, closed up at €86.87 for a gain of (+5.77%), Barclays PLC, in strong trading moved 76.06M shares to close up at €257.82 per share for a gain of (+3.58%), Vodafone Group PLC, in strong trading moved 63.03M shares to close up at €232.90 per share for gain of (+0.47%) and Centrica PLC in medium trading moved 48.24M shares to close up at €276.60 for a gain of (7.46%).

Hang Seng Index

The Hang Sang Index began the trading week up hitting the week high at Tuesday's opening bell followed by gradual declines throughout the remainder week until spiking Friday initiating a rally, while never fully recovered from the early high, the Hong Kong Market closed up with strong triple digit gains.

The Hang Seng closed up at 27,577.34 with triple digit gains of (+287.37/+1.05%).

Gainers on the Hang Seng Index include China Merchants Holdings (International) (+1.65/+5.15), China Resources Land Ltd (Hong Kong) (+1.10/+4.29%), Lenovo Group Ltd (Hong Kong) (+13.28/+4.08%), Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd (Hong Kong) (+0.70/+3.70%).

Active trading on the Heng Seng Hong Kong Index includes Bank of China Ltd, in strong trading, moved 288.01M shares to close up at HK$5.15 (+2.18%), China Construction Bank Corp also in strong trading moved 269.89M shares to close up at HDK$7.39 (+1.51%), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, also in strong trading, moved 222.85M shares to close down at HK$6.55 (+2.02%), and PetroChina Co Ltd in strong trading moved 105.49M shares to close up $HK9.60 (+0.21%).

Losers for the week include Want Want China Holdings Ltd (Hong Kong) (-0.31/-3.55), CNOOC Ltd (Hong Kong) (-0.28/-2.16%), China Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd (-0.50/-1.20%), Belle International Holdings Ltd (-0.09/-0.95%).
