Romney and Ryan Address Nation; Obama and Dems head to Charlotte - The Road to the White House - Election 2012 - Week 35

Mitt Romney, the GOP Presidential candidate, took center stage at the Republican National Convention delivering his acceptance speech by presenting the man behind the message.

After three days of fellow republican leaders pitching his platform to the American public, Romney closed the convention by presenting his qualifications, character traits, assessment of family values and sharing moments, highlights, of his life as a husband, father, son, businessman, Congregant member and leader.

According to Gallup, as of September 1, 2012, President Obama has a single digit lead over Mitt Romney among registered voters President Obama’s national popularity gained a single percentage point this week to 47% and Mitt Romney’s national popularity stay steady at 46%.

President Obama’s current overall ratings, according to Gallup, dropped a single percentage points over the past week to 45% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness dropped a single percentage point to 46%.

The Republicans, led by now GOP Presidential candidate Romney and Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan are continuing to stress the weaknesses in the economy, in the present leadership and the deep concern that America is on the verge of a deeper recession.

Clint Eastwood also showed up as the mystery speaker with an empty chair, symbolizing the lack of leadership in America, and spoke genuinely bantering back and forth with Obama, an absentee leader, an action for which he received much criticism.  He also explained that even in liberal Hollywood there are conservatives, who “by the nature of the word tend to hold it closer to their chest.”

Maintaining a three day theme of “We Built It” the GOP set out to invoke a nostalgic message of better days, greater prosperity for all, and a time when America stood for something both domestically and abroad.

Florida Jr. Senator Marco Rubio, a one-time VP possible, along with former presidential candidate Senator Rick Santorum, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as well as New Mexico Governor, Susana Martinez,  New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte and U.S. Representative, Connie Mack along with former party leaders including former Speaker of the House and one time Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, and former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice and many others spoke over the  condensed three day convention  pressing home the message of unity and inclusion.
