"So far an undisclosed number of Sheriff's deputies were shot Sunday morning and a Douglas County Sheriff's Office SWAT team is at the scene, a home near the 3400 block of County Line Road, according to Lauren Lekander, DCSO spokeswoman," The Denver Post reports.

The Douglas County Sheriff has issued an "Accident Alert" status for the Colorado State Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff, Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police Department and Castle Rock Police Department, which means the situation is so severe these agencies are unable to respond to traffic accidents.

In the last two hours a Code Red has been issued in the affected area from Highlands Vista Townhomes across E. County Line Road and the entire housing development bordered by E. Shady Lane and E. Blazing Land continuing past SH-470.

"Any citizens in the affected area are required to shelter in place, avoid windows and stay away from exterior walls," the Douglas County Sheriff said via Twitter. @dcsheriff
