Chicago’s bloody rampage continued Monday with a sharp spike in shootings and with five days before New Year’s Eve the 61 shootings, 50 wounded and 11 homicides, over the three-day holiday weekend bring the 2016 total to 785 homicides.

The alarming murder rate, which has increased more than 50% over the 476 total of 2015, increases in shocking numbers weekly.

December killings and wounded to date bring the totals to 45 shot and killed, 189 shot and wounded with 234 total shootings and 48 total homicides.

From December 18 through December 24 the total shot and killed ceased at one per day or 7 for the week; Shot and Wounded, 57 for a total of 64 victims of gun violence and 8 total homicides.

2016 is shaping up to be the third worst murder rate in Chicago’s history with a total of 705 shot and killed, dead at the scene from gun related violence. A shocking 3612 victims were shot and wounded with a total of 4317 suffering from gun violence. The total homicides, for 2016 with six days before the year ends and forecasting a bloody violent New Year’s Eve, is 785 murdered.

The possibility of an extremely cold weather pattern may slow some of the violence over the next six days.

Battleground Chi-raq: Taming Chicago’s Rising Murder Rate

However, it appears Chi-raq, with a person shot every 2:00 minutes and a person murdered every 11:00 minutes, with 708 males killed and 3,197 wounded leaving 63 females murdered and 366 wounded.

Statistics show the majority of homicides, a whopping 78.2% of all gun violence is black on black crime. Gang violence is the primary cause of the extremely high interracial murder rate. Exponentially Decreasing exponentially would be Hispanic population responsible for 16.8 of the race on race violence and decreasing further white or Caucasians are responsible for less than 5% of all white on white gun violence.

Drive by shootings may be a built-in component of Chicago’s gang violence and statically the mass murder four or more victims at a single scene only amounts to 34 shootings and 17 murders.  The Hat Trick, a slang term for three victims shot at a single scene, accounted for 93 of the shootings and 33 deaths. Attempts at double homicides seem to the choice of most gun violence with a stunning 437 shootings resulting in 137 killed.

Chicago, like any major city, has areas of heavier crime and neighborhoods in cities can be simply crossing a main street and the neighborhood can change from Chinatown to Little Italy as in New York City.

For resident of Chicago, gun violence and homicides are highest in Austin, with 89 murders and 443 wounded totaling 532 victims, Englewood has 85 homicides and 349 wounded, totaling 434 victims; Garfield Park is third with 57 homicides and 324 wounded totaling 381 victims.

New City, North Lawndale and Grand Crossing are the next three homicide heavy neighborhoods with 108 murders total. Fifteen neighborhoods in Chicago area are known for homicides, the remainder of gun related crime happens outside these 15 neighborhoods and totals 249 of the 748 homicides to date.

More than 80% of all gun related crimes in Chicago remain unsolved.

Chicago’s homicide rate which stuns the world is not the highest and unless there is an exceptionally bloody six days, an all-out war, the numbers even if they increase to 800 will still rank third overall with 970 in 1974 as the highest, 943 in 1992 coming in second and 2016 third.
