Denver Film Society and Denver Arts & Venues Announce 2015 Film on the Rocks Schedule

Denver Film Society and Denver Arts & Venues announced the line-up for the 2015 edition of Film on the Rocks (FOTR). Presented by Pepsi, the 16th season includes nine events throughout the summer. Each film is preceded by a live concert and local comedian, courtesy of Comedy Works.

"Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start to summer and Film on the Rocks is a Colorado Summer tradition," said Britta Erickson, Festival Director for the Denver Film Society. "We are so excited to kick off the season on the holiday weekend and bring cult-classic and fan-favorite films, great music and comedy to the iconic and beautiful Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre throughout the summer."

The 16th season of Film on the Rocks will kick off May 23, the first Saturday date in the history of the series, with THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1. With "mustache rides" officially back in the lexicon thanks to a successful Indiegogo campaign, SUPER TROOPERS will play Tuesday, June 2. JURRASIC PARK will screen on Tuesday, June 23 following the highly anticipated summer release of JURRASIC WORLD.

This year marks significant anniversaries for both THE SHINING and PRETTY WOMAN. The 35th anniversary of THE SHINING will screen on Tuesday, June 9. Denver based Munly and the Lupercalians will bring their eerie atmospheric sound before the screening, recreating the creepy vibe from the 2014 Stanley Film Festival.

The Denver Film Society produces the 4 day long horror retreat at the Stanley Hotel, made famous for inspiring Stephen King's The Shining. Making its FOTR debut, celebrate the 25th anniversary of PRETTY WOMEN on Friday, July 31 for a perfect date night under the stars.

"Peak Experience" ticket packages return again this year for the ultimate Film on the Rocks experience.  For each show guests can choose the VIP experience by selecting the Party Bus VIP or Trading Post Pre-Party VIP. The Party Bus VIP experience starts at Blake Street Tavern, includes food, drinks and a ride with Sunset Limo to and from the show. The Trading Post Pre-Party VIP option includes catering by Steuben's Food Truck, music from DJ Gatsby (Westword 'Best of' Winner), and activities by Play Mile High. Both VIP ticket options include free food, drinks and preferred seating in the amphitheater.

Film on the Rocks is curated and produced by the Denver Film Society on behalf of the City and County of Denver's Division of Arts & Venues. The program was created in 2000 with a vision to provide an affordable opportunity for the community to enjoy film and live entertainment at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The first film screened in the program was Francis Ford Coppola's THE GODFATHER.  In 2014, more than 65,000 people attended Film on the Rocks.
