Voters Decide Enough is Enough Back Dem’s in Key Races

Voters in New Jersey and Virginia had the opportunity to bolster the Republican led Administration and instead sent a clear and deliberate message to Washington that the days of Donald Trump’s favor had reached its limits.
Democratic sweeps in New York’s Mayoral race and Governor races in New Jersey and Virginia, the most contested and critical races, ushered in an obvious Trump backlash.
Virginia voters elected Democrat Ralph Northam, with 53.9% of the vote easily defeating Republican Ed Gillespie who received 45% of the vote.

New Jersey voters who were faced with two new leaders, to choose from as two term Governor Chris Christie had reached his term limits, went with Democrat Phil Murphy, opting for a complete change of the guard. The double digit victory for Murphy took the state with 55.5% of the vote.
His opponent Kim Guadagno, the Lt. Governor under the exiting Governor, received 42.4% of the vote, couldn’t ride Christie’s reputation for common sense politics, after one year of Trump supported policies by the former Vice presidential hopeful not to mention Bridgegate and other retaliatory scandals that scared Chris Christie’s legacy.
Securing nearly 40% of the vote, New Yorkers known for true blue support, as expected, resoundingly re-elected Mayor Bill De Blasio. De Blasio won Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, with Staten Island going Republican.
Virginia voters built a democratic stronghold in the key Statehouse also electing democrats to the Lt. Governor, where Democrat Justin Fairfax and state Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel ran a hotly contentious race, Fairfax triumphed with 52.7% to 47.3% secured by Vogel.
Virginians also elected democrat Mark Herring to the Attorney General position with 53.3% of the vote. His challenger Republican John Adams secured 46.7% of the vote.

Democrats also swept the Washington State House.
Utah continues as one of the only state elections that remained dedicated Republican.
