Misclassification of Homicide Case Aids Murderer in Escaping Justice; FBI Offers Reward

Brittanee Drexel, of Rochester, New York, was last seen in 2009 leaving a beachfront hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to hotel surveillance cameras, the FBI said in a recently released statement and simply vanished.

“After seven long years of waiting and praying for the return of my daughter, we know she isn’t coming home alive,” Dawn Drexel, the missing woman’s mother, told reporters. “Brittanee’s life was stolen from her in a brutal and senseless fashion. I need your help in bringing the people responsible for her death to justice,” as stated in the New York Daily News.

FBI Special Agent in Charge David Thomas spoke with reporters at a Press Conference in McClellanville, South Carolina and indicated Brittanee was held against her will as the last known signal from her cellular phone had been picked up in the area of McClellanville, South Carolina 60 miles outside of Myrtle Beach. It is believed she was murdered somewhere near the coastal fishing hamlet.

Convicted rapist, pedophile and sex offender Raymond Douglas Moody had once been considered a person of interest. It is unclear if he remains the FBI’s main suspect.

The FBI has offered a 25,000 reward for any information leading to those responsible for her death.

A Missing Persons misclassification is responsible for the seven-year delay in action. The case has been reclassified as a Homicide.
