Beltway Insider: Trump Nixes Nuke Deal; Iran Deal Redux; Netanyahu/Iran; NK Summit/Americans Released; McCain Mocked

President Trump nixed the Iran Nuclear Deal crafted under the Obama Administration after two years of negotiations by former Secretary of State John Kerry and in agreement in P5+1 United Nations Permanent Members calling it "defected at its core."

According to Gallup, President Trump job approval, over the past week, remained constant at 42% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as President decreased by one percentage point to 52%.

Trump Nixes Nuke Deal

President Trump, after the appearance of success in the maximum pressure campaign against Kim Jong Un which resulted in the dismantling of the Nuclear program, nixed the Iranian deal in favor of the same tactic with Iran.

"The Iran Deal was one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into," the President said.

His decision to terminate the United States participation and reinstating sanctions in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is based on three particular areas where, after scrutiny and with the intelligence provided by Prime Minister Netanyahu while not conclusive presented clear issues, tipped the scales in favor of revisiting the Iranian deal in light of the new intelligence across all agencies.

Protecting American From a Bad Deal

"The JCPOA enriched the Iranian regime and enabled its malign behavior, while at best delaying its ability to pursue nuclear weapons and allowing it to preserve nuclear research and development," Trump said.

Outlining the first tier the President directed his administration to initiate a "maximum effort campaign" similar to that of the effort leveraged against Kim Jong Un's government re-imposing sanctions as they relate to the JCPOA, meaning sanctions specifically targeted to the Iranian economy, which when the original deal was signed and the tiered thresholds were met, sanctions which released locked monies into the economy were released.

The Trump Administration will also target energy, petrochemical and financial sectors. The administration has also initiated a blanket statement without indicating nation or nationality, "those doing business in Iran will be provided a period of time to allow them to wind down operations in or business involving Iran."

While assumed this is directed to Americans, it remains unclear. However those who fail to wind down business operations will be subject to "severe consequences."

"United States withdrawal from the JCPOA will pressure the Iranian regime to alter its course of malign activities and ensure that Iranian bad acts are no longer rewarded.  As a result, both Iran and its regional proxies will be put on notice.  As importantly, this step will help ensure global funds stop flowing towards illicit terrorist and nuclear activities," Trump said.

Iran's Bad Faith and Bad Actions

"Iran negotiated the JCPOA in bad faith, and the deal gave the Iranian regime too much in exchange for too little," the President said.

In addition to the intelligence gathered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and presented recently, the JCPOA allowed approximately $25million in frozen assets to be released flooding the economy with cash in addition to the monies from the lifting of the sanctions. This money, the Trump Administration alleges was misappropriated and used to build up military and fund terror ties.

Addressing Iranian Aggression

President Trump's plan in addressing the Iranian aggression is similar to the coalition which has remained string and dedicated to the pursuit of destroying the Islamic State.

The more than 60 Nations who actively support the coalition could remain as dedicated to ensuring the Iranians remain without the capabilities to ever gain the power to build a nuclear program if the nations deem the Iranian a clear threat and supporter of ISIS, Syria, Boko Huran, and any of the many sub terror groups throughout the world.

President Trump also added President Rouhani must adhere to the following points:

  • Cease its support for terrorists, extremists, and regional proxies, such as Hezbollah, Hamas, the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. End its publicly declared quest to destroy Israel.
  • Stop its threats to freedom of navigation, especially in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea.
  • Cease escalating the Yemen conflict and destabilizing the region by proliferating weapons to the Houthis.
  • End its cyber-attacks against the United States and our allies, including Israel.
  • Stop its grievous human rights abuses, shown most recently in the regime's crackdown against widespread protests by Iranian citizens.
  • Stop its unjust detention of foreigners, including United States citizens.

Israel Delivers Intelligence Proving Iran's Bad Faith

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who made a dedicated promise at the onset of the Iranian Nuclear Deal three years ago, went forward this week with substantive proof of Iranian continued efforts to revitalize its ailing nuclear program.

The Israeli effort to dismantle the Iranian Nuclear program has evolved over the past two decades from active and attributable campaigns to clandestine and covert essentially from traditional war tactics to technological campaigns.

The recent Zero Days campaign, which has been inactive for some time and covered in the media including a documentary which detailed the program extensively, had through technological coding had been successful in destroying the fusion technology necessary for an active nuclear program.

Netanyahu addressed his nation, in a primetime presentation, with what he considered conclusive proof of the "evidence of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program that could step up pressure on the United States to pull out of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran," Reuters reported.

Netanyahu, building on pre-2015 security intelligence, "said Iran had also kept important files on nuclear technology since then, and continued adding to its "nuclear weapons knowledge".

Most intelligence experts agree that Netanyahu presentation was compelling it did however lack "a smoking gun" indicting a direct and clear violation by Iran "but it could strengthen the hand of advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump who want to scrap the nuclear agreement."

Beltway Insider: July 19 2015 Original Iranian Deal with Quotes from former President Obama

President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and Sr. White House officials announced this week the historic deal that through two years of intense negotiation has been agreed to by both sides and will drastically reduce the potential threat of nuclear warfare by the ever volatile Iranian nation.

"This deal demonstrates that American diplomacy can bring about real and meaningful change that makes our country, and the world, safer and more secure.  This deal is also in line with a tradition of American leadership.  It's now more than 50 years since President Kennedy stood before the American people and said, "Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate."

He was speaking then about the need for discussions between the United States and the Soviet Union, which led to efforts to restrict the spread of nuclear weapons," President Obama said.

The drastic reduction in potential threat is a safe measure to the area which will last more than 15 years.

The deal allows weapons inspectors to have full access with compliance mandatory or risk, the safeguards of assurance, the immediate return to severe sanctions that will remain in place as a safeguard of compliance for an additional eight years.

"I am confident that this deal will meet the national security interest of the United States and our allies.  So I will veto any legislation that prevents the successful implementation of this deal," the President said.

North Korea Summit: Kim Jong Un Prepares to End Nuclear Arms Program

In advance of the June 12 United States-North Korean Summit in Singapore, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo secured the release of three long held Asian-Americans Kim Dong Chul, Kim Sang Duk, and Kim Hak Song who were detained.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was in Pyongyang discussing the upcoming summit and in a show of good faith, which was crucial for Kim Jong Un to be considered credible, secured the secured the release of three Americans held captive in North Korea.

No mention of the detainment, and torture records of Otto Warmbier, the twenty-two year old Ohio resident who died from injuries suffered during his 17 month captivity have yet to be retrieved and have not been announced to be a part of any package.

President Trump's Administration has worked with allies and partners to bring North Korea into negotiation. North Korea's complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization is President Trump's top priority in talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. President Trump will continue the significant progress his Administration has already made in order to achieve this goal.

Senatorial Comments From Social Media

The release was unilaterally welcomed and bi-partisan support was vocalized via twitter with both democrats and republicans praising the release of the three. The statement collected and released by the White House includes Media, Reporters and Political Commentators, Members of Congress (House and Senate), Governors, and Policy Experts.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI): .@POTUS and @SecPompeo securing the release of the three American detainees from North Korea is terrific news. While this is a gesture of goodwill, we mustremain clear-eyed about the true nature of the regime.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY): "This morning the world has learned that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is on his way back from North Korea with three American prisoners after securing their release. Two were detained last year, one had been in captivity since 2015, and now following successful discussions, all three are on their way back to the U.S. with our secretary of state. I'm hopeful that by approaching our ongoing negotiations with clear eyes, we can build on this progress and pursue a verifiable agreement to dismantle North Korea's nuclear arms."

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member Bob Menendez (D-NJ): "This is great news and I join the families in this moment of profound relief. I commend Secretary Pompeo, and look forward to discussing his trips to Pyongyang upon his return."

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN): "We are all very thankful for the release of these American citizens who have been unjustly detained by North Korea for far too long, and I applaud the administration for working with Congress to build significant international pressure against the Kim regime."

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA): "I join all Americans in welcoming Tony Kim, Kim Hak-song and Kim Dong-chul home. We all celebrate their return … The Trump administration deserves credit for scrapping President Obama's failed 'strategic patience' and working with Congress to apply maximum pressure against Kim Jong Un."

Sen. Angus King (I-ME): "Obviously, it is good news. It's good news for these young men. It's good news for their families. And I think it is a positive development. The fact that we're moving toward a summit with North Korea is also good news. And I think the President deserves substantial credit for that."

Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA): "The long-overdue release of American citizens Tony Kim, Kim Hak-Song, and Kim Dong Chul is a positive step and removes an obstacle to a successful summit between @realDonaldTrump and Kim Jong Un."

Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD): "I give credit to @SecPompeo + this Administration on securing the release and safe return of the 3 Korean-Americans. I hope this a step forward in negotiations toward a nuclear-free North Korea."

McCain Mocked by Trump Staffer

Senator John McCain, (R-AZ), who is battling a rare form of brain cancer, has over the past week been mocked, harassed and ridiculed both by media and a white house staffer.

The last days smear campaign against the dying war hero and dedicated public servant began at FOX News and Retired Air Force Lt. General Thomas McInerney, who was subsequently terminated after his attempts to slander the senator failed.

During the Vietnam War, McCain an Air Force pilot was shot down and held captive for five years at the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the Hanoi Hilton, considered the most torturous of all prisons. His account, along with others held, detail the daily torture suffered at the hands of the North Vietnamese.

"The fact is, is John McCain, it worked on John. That's why they call him "Songbird John." The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, as former Vice President Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million American lives, we will do whatever we have to." Snopes reported.

The defamatory remarks came after McCain "encouraged fellow senators to reject [Gina] Haspel who was allegedly the person in charge of CIA "'black site"' during the waterboarding of a prisoner, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri.

McCain's rejected Haspel based on her beliefs on the value and use of torture "I believe Gina Haspel is a patriot who loves our country and has devoted her professional life to its service and defense. However, Ms. Haspel's role in overseeing the use of torture by Americans is disturbing. Her refusal to acknowledge torture's immorality is disqualifying. I believe the Senate should exercise its duty of advice and consent and reject this nomination." [Snopes].

Kelly Sadler, a White House staffer who personifies the current ethical bankruptcy associated with the Trump White House, said, after McCain voted against Haspel, "It doesn't matter he's dying anyway."

The lack of respect given to dedicated, life long public servants who were, long before the wave of wanna be politicians took over Washington, is typically of the abasement and denigration of the current administration and those chosen to assist and support.
