Beltway Insider: Trump Addresses Davos Attendees; The Perv and The Pedophile: Wynn Resigns; US Gymnast Doc Sentenced; Challenger

President Donald Trump, after a turbulent and shocking freshman year, will give his first State of the Union address this week expected to be a continuation of his themes of making America great again, promised and delivered.

According to Gallup, President Trump job approval, over the past week, decreased by four percentage points to 36% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as President increased by four percentage points to 59%.

Trump's State of the Union

The Tuesday evening speech, if the President stays on script, should follow a traditional pattern beginning with the core issues Americans feel are important and use in election choices: Employment, Taxes, Immigration; Cost of Living, Medical Care; Veterans Benefits and the social ills: Gun violence, homelessness, poverty and the effects on the most vulnerable, (food insecurity and exploitation) and Opioid use.

He may also touch on the extraordinary service of the first responders during the horrific 2017 Hurricane season and the resurgence and recovery of these effective communities aided by government. It's doubtful he will mentioned 75% of Puerto Rico is still without electricity.

The president will also be selling his yet to be delivered promises, and during the hour long address in which he will take full credit for the last nine years of progressive job growth. His big push is The Wall and his concessions to persuade Congress to allocate the funds to begin construction.

Expect an announcement on DACA and the Dreamers which should come in the form of a plan that will allow the nearly 2mm illegal immigrants to gain citizenship and possibly include re-patronization of those whom he has already deported.

The State of the Union attendees include Congress, the Supreme Court Justices, and the Joint Chiefs. This year The Honorable Justice Ginsberg has announced she will not be in attendance and has effectively explained she has no plans to retire.

Trump will then move into the World Forum. The main points in his foreign section of his address will be the high point of his first year. The Saudi Deal, the main take-aways from Davos; the victories over the Islamic State; and the rising violence in Afghanistan and resurgence of the Taliban.

Democrats have chosen Massachusetts Representative Joseph Kennedy III to deliver the response to the State of the Union Address. He is the grandson of former U.S. Attorney General and Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy and his great uncles were President John F. Kennedy and Senator Ted Kennedy. A rising star in the Democratic Party, Kennedy has a history of philanthropic and humanitarian aid and assistance, as well as the name and respect of the people in his district. Over his last three election cycles he has won his seat in 2012 by 90% of the vote; unopposed in 2014; and by more than 40% in 2016.

World Economic Forum Gather in Davos

President Trump traveled to the World Economic Forum this past week meeting with the world's global power leaders discussing the economic indicators of the nations of the world.

Trump, who is the first sitting president to attend the Davos, Switzerland Forum since 2000, surprised many by his decision to attend as the principals subscribed to by the majority of the leaders and clearly by the WEF governing constitution seem opposite of his America First agenda.

"America first, not alone.  The President is very proud of the accomplishments he's created in his first year when the GDP growth, on the unemployment numbers, what's going on in the stock market, what we've done in reg reform, which is an artificial tax on businesses, what we've done on tax reform.  We are competitive today.  We are competitive with the rest of the world.  We have a tax rate that's competitive with the rest of the world. The President is going to Davos to speak to world leaders about investing in the United States," said National Economic Council Director Gary Cohen.

Trump Meets With Foreign Leaders

The World Economic Forum also afforded the opportunity to participate in bi-laterals with allies Israel and the United Kingdom stressing the unwavering commitments to each nation in the continued fight against the Islamic State and other jihadist organizations, fair and reciprocal trade practices, peaceful solutions to middle east unrest and polices; and dealing with Iran ensuring the Iranian Nuclear is solid, unbreakable with swift and harsh sanctions for failure to comply.

Dem's Strike Deal on Gov't Shutdown

The Government Shutdown was short lived with both parties offering concessions to hardline polices that could have added to the already deep division in Congress and with the current administration leadership.

As it was, the elected politicians, those who face termination from employment at each cycle, used the two strongest cards each held to make deals to build a fiscal package that would survive.

The concession, on both fronts, are immigration. His big push is The Border Wall and his concessions to persuade Congress to allocate the funds to begin construction which is a new word for the bulldog president who has refused to compromise his ideals on any level.

With a belief that more of his polarizing politics can be realized with simple compromises, it can be expected that he will announce a plan that will give the nearly 2mm illegal immigrants opportunity to gain citizenship and possibly include re-patronization of those whom he has already deported.

Trump Secures UK Visit

President Trump has finally secured a date for his United Kingdom visit expected to have been completed during the first year of his presidency and delayed due to protests and unrest in London as the people have flat out refused his polarizing politics and rhetoric.

Throughout this first year, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has remained a vocal critic of the newly elected president and his values, opinions and unrestrained rhetoric and has credited the eight million residents of London who wholeheartedly agrees that while he pursues his divisive agenda he is not welcome.

His meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May at the World Economic Forum ended with Trump announcing the traditional meeting of the newly elected president and members of Parliament and the Queen will take place in June 1028, one year after the visit was extended.

It is unclear if that meeting, which has been described as a working summit, will include a visit with her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. She could also step back, although it seems unlikely. She could also meet the President with HRH Prince Charles or Prince William as Prince Philip has retired from public service.

First Lady Weathers the Storm

First Lady Melania Trump has returned to Mar-a-Lago and did not accompany her husband to Davos, Switzerland during which the couple celebrated their thirteenth wedding anniversary which, if it weren't for the media, would have remained unknown.

The outing of Mr. Trump's pay outs to porn star Stormy Daniels, and his alleged affair that continued during his marriage to Melania, and the rumors of an alleged White House affair with one of two senior females officials, has the divorce rumors gaining considerable strength.

Hotel Mogul Steve Wynn Resigns

Casino and hotel mogul, Steve Wynn has resigned as the Finance Chair of the Republican National Committee, after he was exposed as a serial sexual predator.

The story contains many of the same perversions that have become known over the past year, as the power elite are exposed as predatory animals.

Wynn has been accused of sexual misconduct, demanding sexual favors from his employees and other sex crimes. He is a major donor from the RNC and many GOP Senators are now asking their colleagues who have accepted donations from the disgraced Wynn to return the monies.

"On Sunday, Sens. Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins said Republicans should give back his cash. '"We should do of ourselves what we ask of the Democratic party,"' Graham (R-S.C.) said on ABC's "This Week." RNC officials pressured Democrats to return donations from disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein after accusations of rape and pervasive harassment emerged against the major Democratic donor. But RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniels, in accepting Wynn's resignation, did not address whether his contributions would be returned. '"If...the allegations have merit, then we should return the money like we asked of the Democrats, Graham said,"' reported the New York Post.

To date President Trump, who Wynn donated heavily to nor any of the GOP Senators who received donations from the disgraced mogul have spoken publicly or returned the money.

Fall Out Continues in Pedophile Gymnast Doctor

Dr. Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor, was sentenced this week to 175 years in prison for his role in sexually assaulting more than 150 girls over the thirty years of working with the esteemed Bela Karolyi.

The survivors, courageous girls, whom the majority of Americans have cheered on as they have vaulted into the record books as Olympic Hero's, were only the tip of the iceberg in Nassar's perverted evil, sick and demented mind.

Op/Ed: Adding My Voice and Story to the Many Who Were Once Silenced by Violence

To be a champion is grueling. It is hard work, dedicated, long hours, separations and for the girls who train at The Ranch, it can also mean the chance to be the best in the world. By the time many are accepted to train at the ranch, they are aware they have the skill to be on the Women's Gymnastic team and represent the United States at any Olympiad.

For Nassar, the fall from his deftly balanced life of pedophile and physician began in 2015 when the USA Gymnastic organization fired him. The domino effect wasn't as swift and it wasn't until an expose appeared in The Indianapolis Star detailing former gymnasts accusing him of sexual assault. He was fired from Michigan State and while it would have been expected that an investigation would have been swift, Universities are liked Walled Cities, with high achieving sports programs fortified against investigations.

Indiscretions are an acceptable sacrifice for the value the sports programs affords the universities. That mentality is what kept Jerry Sandusky, a convicted pedophile, operating for years. The same is why Larry Nassar was able to hide his abuse for three decades.

The institutional indifference that allowed his abuse to continue as long as it did is why any industry that turns a blind eye to the allegations will face a top down fall out. The end, even as Nassar has been sentenced, isn't over for the US Gymnastics organization as further investigations into who knew and when did they know will continue to root out the indifference that allowed this perversion to continue.

The courage of these Gymnasts, the known and unknown, the Gold Medal winners and those who walked away, have once again become hero's.

Survivors, from all walks of life, still remain silent. Predators, known by friends and colleagues, in revered industries still remain silent, harboring the perverted and violent behaviors of those who "are really a good, nice, well known, dedicated" doctor, lawyer, movie mogul, casino owner, preacher, president.

Damage control only leads to denial which leads to accessory after the fact which leads to who knew what and when which leads to courageous voices who will never back down.

Challenger Remembered

Thirty years ago, the space shuttle Challenger was preparing for a first, as teacher Christa McAuliffe, from Boston Massachusetts, chosen from more than 11,000 applicants would be the first teacher in Space conducting experiments and teaching two lessons.

On January 28, 1986, 73 Seconds after lift-off, the Space Shuttle Challenger suffered a catastrophic malfunction, breaking apart, exploding and instantly killing McAuliffe, along with six other NASA astronauts.

The seven Space Shuttle Challenger crew members included Mission Specialist Ellison S. Onizuka, Teacher-in-Space participant Sharon Christa McAuliffe, Payload Specialist Greg Jarvis and mission specialist Judy Resnick, Pilot Mike Smith, Commander Dick Scobee and Mission Specialist Ron McNair.

The teacher in space program was shelved along with McAuliffe's lesson plans until recently. Now thirty years later, the lessons, "Liquids in Zero Gravity" she prepared will be taught by her backup Barbra Morgan (Teacher Astronaut 2007) and Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger.

"On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the brave men and women of NASA who lost their lives in our Nation's quest to expand the boundaries of human potential.  The dedication and sacrifice, remind us of the true bravery and resiliency of the American spirit, and the challenges we boldly face to reach higher for all mankind.   America's leadership in space is not without cost, but we have met tragedy with perseverance and challenge with achievement.  We will not forget the contributions of our great American heroes as we build on their legacy to reach vast and exciting frontiers," the President said in a released statement.
