Beltway Insider: Trump/Iran, Immigration, Brit PM Chaos, UN/Khashoggi Murder, Egypt, 2020

President Trump proceeded with unusually reserved caution, even nixing a retaliatory strike, after the Iranian government allegedly shot down an unmanned drone causing a brief interruption in surveillance and adding to the escalating tensions in the Gulf.

According to Gallup, President Trump's job approval rating, which was tracked for the two week time period of May 15 -30, 2019, decreased five percentage points to 40% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as President increased by four percentage points to 55%. A slight 4% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated bi-monthly.

Trump Exhibits Unusual Caution In Face of Growing Iranian Tensions

President Trump admitted this week that he stopped National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, from an immediate retaliatory strike targeting in all probability an Iranian nuclear or military installation.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has once again categorically denied the allegations. Drone footage also captured the images of what many have confirmed as Iranian military removing bombs that had not detonated from the hulls of two oil tankers which had been hit.

The recent escalation in tension between the United States and Iran come on the heels of the dissolution of the Iranian Nuclear deal which lifted much needed sanctions for the poverty stricken nation.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry during the final year of the Obama Administration spent considerable time negotiating a nuclear disarmament deal which would call for the Rouhani government to adhere to various and incrementally increasing levels of dismantling the nuclear program until Iran would permanently be out of the nuclear arms race.

The P5+1 Partners were each active in the deal. Israel was deeply opposed to a deal, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using prime time Israeli television to announce his plans to "find the Nukes and expose the Iranian leadership for fraud."

Iran had maintained the terms of the deal, and the IAEA (the International Atomic Energy Agency) certified they were abiding by the main term sof the deal although they raised questions on how many advanced centrifuges Iran was allowed to have, as it was loosely defined in the deal.

A Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was created, with signatories from China, France, Germany, European Union, Iran, United Kingdom and the United States, which subsequently withdrew its support of the JCPOA. Its unclear if the terms of the deal, even without the United States, will remain in tact.

"Iran had agreed to eliminate its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium, cut its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%, and reduce by about two-thirds the number of its gas centrifuges for 13 years. Iran also agreed not to build any new heavy-water facilities. Uranium-enrichment activities will be limited to a single facility using first-generation centrifuges for a decade. To verify compliance the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will have regular access. The agreement provides that in return for verifiably abiding by its commitments, Iran will receive relief from U.S., European Union, and United Nations Security Council nuclear-related sanctions," Wikipedia reported.

President Trump has withdrawn the United States support of this deal, which has left Rouhani and his nation struggling under the temperament of the Trump administration while attempting to maintain the commitments to JCPOA. The recent wartime tactics have become a litmus test, of sorts, for the trump administration who ran his 2016 campaign on ending military involvement against Syrian and ISIS terrorists.

Trump recently shipped 1000 soldiers out to the area and sent the most imposing fleet of battleships to the Gulf as a show of support to U.S. allies in the region. The upcoming 2020 election may play heavily in any retaliatory or militaristic presence in the Middle East.

Immigration – Trump Order Mass Deportations

"President Donald Trump has postponed a massive ICE operation that would have targeted 2,000 families with members who have received deportation orders. The raids were set to begin Sunday, nearly a week after Trump tweeted that "ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States," Vox has reported.

On June 22, 2019 according to the President's Twitter feed, he said, "At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the illegal immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations Start!"

The continued banter between Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the house, who also replied via twitter stating, "Mr. president, delay is welcome. Time is needed for comprehensive immigration reform. Families belong together."

Comprehensive Immigration reform has remained an issue for more than a decade. With the increasing volume of illegal aliens gaining access to the United States, the time for comprehensive reform is now. Neither party will receive every element of their demands, and with some compromise a bill could be drafted that will see its way to the President's desk.

The people of the United States deserve better than repeated delays and those seeking asylum, refuge and protection, also deserve better. The laws are in place for the protection of all citizens.

The progressive group of freshmen representatives should be able to work out an immigration bill that addresses the issues and respect the system and laws in place. Ladies?

Brit PM Chaos – Race for recently Vacated PM Chair Dissolves into Disorder

The race for the British Prime Minister position has become a dirty laundry fest with top candidate Boris Johnson forced to explain the infamous row he had with his much younger lover Carrie Symonds, 31, which resulted in plates broken, screaming as the female is demanding the 55 year old Johnson "get off" her.

World News: The Dangerously Deserted Arena of French Leadership

This follows on the heels of the cocaine usage which derailed the campaign of Michael Gove. The last two men standing are Jeremy Hunt, who won the run off by two votes, and Boris Johnson.

Boris Johnson has been the favorite since before Mrs. May announced her resignation. The darling of the party's grassroots and the face of Brexit, the former foreign secretary is running on a platform of leaving the EU by the end of October. With broad support from across the party, the race is his to lose.

Jeremy Hunt depicts himself as the candidate who can do deals, bring the Tories together and make Brexit a reality. The foreign secretary, who previously served at health and culture, may have supported Remain but has gathered support across the Tory parliamentary party."

The Financial Times Reported.

The winner will be announced during the week of July 22 and will move to 10 Downing Street to begin the overwhelming task of hammering out the only agenda anyone is talking about, the Brexit deal, a new referendum, to remain or to leave.

World News: The Cataclysm and The Mouse

The tapes are gruesome. Violent depictions of dismemberment, as well as a timeline which repeatedly references Khashoggi as the "sacrificial lamb" and confirms his return. He is also on the tapes as he is taken to a special room, and his told Interpol has a case against him and he must return to Saudi Arabia, he is also told to contact his children. The United Nations recommend the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, investigate the death of Mr. Khashoggi. President Trump has dismissed the request.

Egypt – The First Democratic Elected Leader Name Morsi has Died in Custody

Mohammad Morsi, the Democratic Elected Leader of Egypt, who served his country for one year during an intense time of transition during what has been called the Arab Spring has died this week while in police custody.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a key ally of Morsi, said that the Egyptian government should be tried in international courts for the death of the former president. "Mohamed Morsi flailed on the courtroom floor for 20 minutes and the authorities did not help him. This is why I say Morsi did not die, he was murdered. We, as Turkey, will follow this issue and do everything possible for Egypt to be tried in international courts for Morsi's death," he said, calling on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to take action towards this end," Al-Jazeera reports.

Arab Spring, which officially began in Spring of 2010 and through social media and cell phone video, citizens were able in minutes to show the Western world the atrocities happening in their countries. Eventually more than seventeen nations in the Arabian Peninsula and Middle East, took to the streets calling for democratic reforms and new elections.

For many the mass movement resulted in overthrow of old regimes and in other nations such as Syria, the harsh battle between the freedom backed rebels and the Syrian government have resulted in a decade of civil warfare, countless deaths, and mass migration as citizens of Syrian fled the reign of Bashar al-Assad in hopes of a new future.

Noticias Telemundo Exclusive: Trump Breaks His Silence and Speaks For The First Time On Hispanic Television

As the pool of potential possible grow, the polls continue to narrow the candidates the public believe have the potential to win the election.

Former Vice-President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders are in a dead heat with Biden edging Sanders by a hair. Rounding out the top six are Massachusetts Senator Elizbeth Warren, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, California Senator Kamala Harris and former US Secretary of Housing and Urban development Texas Julian Castro which is the pool from where the running mate will be vetted.

The wildcard of course is the Student loan crisis, the election could become so heated as the time ticks down that the candidate that produces the most comprehensive Student Loan forgiveness or bailout plan will win on simple economics.

The mud-slinging tactic between potential candidates only aids the GOP and allows Trump to concentrate on his brand of politics while the democrats denigrate each other hoping to jockey for the top spot. A more concentrated attack on the polices of the Administration and less infighting and raging against the large pool of potential presidential candidates has the better chance of delivering a knock out come November 3, 2020.
