Kyocera international, of Kyoto Japan, a well-known and established name in luxury cookware, cutlery and kitchenware, has recently launched handheld Electric Mill, used for grinding fresh pepper, salt and spices into the grade, from fine to coarse, of choice.

Remarkably fast, quiet and easy to use. The handheld unit can be operated with one hand by simply pressing the button on top and letting the mill do the work.

Kyocera's proprietary ceramic is close in hardness to diamonds. This durable mechanism will outlast any metal-based grinding mill. An advanced ceramic burr grinder mechanism adjusts from fine to coarse. The units are rustproof. The advanced ceramic mechanism is non-reactive and will never rust.

The Electric Grinders shown have a single chamber and are meant for a single spice and is available in black or white. Duel chambered electric mills area available with the same proprietary craftsmanship and quality.

The units are very stylish made of a lava light shape, the shell is solid with a window chamber for content display. Holding the unit near the top using the thumb to activate the grinder. No deep press necessary. A light touch and the Electric Mill does the work. Settings adjust for fine to coarse grinds.

Salt, pepper, and other spices remain dry even in humid conditions. The Electric Mill can be used for Coarse Salts, Wet Salts, Peppercorns, Sesame Seeds, Flax Seeds, Mustard Seeds, Celery seeds, Cumin Seeds and still the unit will never rust.

So noise level is really what everyone wants to know: Does it deliver on its claim of super quiet and if it does how can a grinder be quiet.

The first question can be answered the second is proprietary. However the Kyocera Electric Mills are constructed the super quiet is more of a hum and doesn’t interpret conversation while the fresh pepper is being added to ones meal. It is super quiet? Yes. It is quiet and the craftsmanship with the burr/hum enables ultra-long-life performance. Batteries not included. Made in Japan.

So I like my fresh pepper and use the Electic Mill daily, infact the ground pepper is all I use the unit for and now need to use it to grind cinnamon sticks. Any person who has operated a grinder will know that the cinnamon will have a pepper taste to it and while adding chilies to chocolate or other spices is the rage, we want simple fresh ground cinnamon.

The two questions will the Electric Mill retain flavors? And secondly care and maintenance?

The Kyocera Electric Mill does not absorb flavors. Switching spices from Peppercorns to Cinnamon will not result in pepper-cinnamon. For care and maintenance: A simple handwashing, wipe it out with a sponge, of the unit, is sufficient to clean the unit. It is battery operated so submerging or running it in the dishwasher will ruin the unit.

The unit is shipped with a matching stand that will catch residual grinds so unlike the toaster there will not be crumbs on the table or countertop.

The Kyocera Electric Mill operates on four AA alkaline batteries.
