Biden Address the United Nations General Assembly

President Biden, in his first speech to the United Nations General Assembly as President, encouraged the leaders of the world, with a unity inspired message inviting the allies of the world to see beyond the horrors of the recent past inflicted by the Covid pandemic and move toward a bright and better future.

He presented a clear message that under his leadership he made the choice for the United States to move forward, to unloose the albatross of Afghanistan, of past administrations, to re-strengthen partnerships to create a more perfect global union.

"Over the last eight months, I have prioritized rebuilding our alliances, revitalizing our partnerships, and recognizing they're essential and central to America's enduring security and prosperity. We have reaffirmed our sacred NATO Alliance to Article 5 commitment.  We're working with our Allies toward a new strategic concept that will help our Alliance better take on evolving threats of today and tomorrow. We renewed our engagement with the European Union, a fundamental partner in tackling the full range of significant issues facing our world today," President Biden said during his speech to the United Nations.

Pandemic, Vaccination and Management

The Coronavirus, which many believe the worst is over and the virus is in the management stage, was addressed with both respect and defiant determination to take the lesson learned from the pandemic and prepare the world for the inevitable future, which will include the next pandemic.

"Already, the United States has put more than $15 billion toward global COVID response — the global COVID response.  We've shipped more than 160 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to other countries.  This includes 130 million doses from our own supply and the first tranches of the half a billion doses of Pfizer vaccine we purchased to donate through COVAX," Biden said.

Climate Action, Physical Threats

The president also addressed that not only did the United States rejoin the Paris Climate Accord, but he also introduced an ambitious action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through critical infrastructure investments which will aid in the creation of alternative energy sources, electric vehicles and coast to coast build to lock in progress toward the climate goals of the future.

Addressing enemies of the state, he said "Make no mistake: The United States will continue to defend ourselves, our Allies, and our interests against attack, including terrorist threats, as we prepare to use force if any is necessary, but — to defend our vital U.S. national interests, including against ongoing and imminent threats."

Challenge to World Leaders for the future

"As we look ahead, we will lead.  We will lead on all the greatest challenges of our time, from COVID to climate, peace and security, human dignity, and human rights.  We will lead together with our Allies and partners and in cooperation with all those who believe, as we do, that this is within our power to meet these challenges, to build a future that lifts all of our people and preserves this planet.  But none of this is inevitable; it's a choice.  And I can tell you where America stands: We will choose to build a better future," Biden said in closing his speech.

Justin Trudeau Secure Victory; Fail to Win a Majority

The Liberal Party of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 49, was unable to secure a majority win in the nation's recent ad hoc election, which left him holding half a prize, which for his party, is better than none at all.

Trudeau's opponents "have relentlessly denounced his decision to call the snap election as unnecessary and potentially dangerous for people heading to the polls," The New York Times reported, which eventually cost more than $400million dollars as the parties battled for the top prize and the majority.

Like every election, third party candidates, or spoilers who often siphon off votes from each of the others allowing the most unlikely candidate to emerge victorious, were front and center in this race also.

With many of the globally recognized media calling the election "mean, shallow, pointless" and "a bad mood waiting to land. The election moved quickly to the relief of many through the 36 day cycle with all the hoopla, headache, sparring, polls, debates, ill will, and name calling as is expected in every election.

"The vote Monday capped a campaign that many here felt was unnecessary, failed to inspire much enthusiasm and featured ugly scenes of protesters — many of them opposed to coronavirus vaccines and vaccine mandates — screaming vulgarities at Trudeau and his family and at one point pelting him with gravel," The Washington Post reported.

Chancellor Angela Merkel will leave her post after sixteen years in office after Sunday's election. If the current election results hold, Merkel's departure deflated the party which plummeted to its worst showing since its inception.

Macron Agrees to U.S. Meet

French President Emmanuel Macron has agreed to meet with President Biden in October during the Rome G20 summit in an effort to move beyond what both men have acknowledged was essentially a lack of communication over the recent U.S.-Australian submarine deal.

"The two leaders agreed that the situation would have benefited from open consultations among allies on matters of strategic interest to France and our European partners. President Biden conveyed his ongoing commitment in that regard," The Washington Post reported.

In a show of good faith, French President Macron indicated he would send French Ambassador Phillipe Etienne back to Washington.

Enhanced Border Control Tactics Called Out

Images this week of Border Control Horseback Patrols corralling illegal Haitian immigrants have initiated yet another national conversation on the enhanced control tactics used to maintain safety of the United States southernmost borders.

"To see people treated like they did, horses barely running over, people being strapped – it's outrageous," Biden said, making a whipping motion with his hand. "I promise you, those people will pay. There will be an investigation underway now and there will be consequences. There will be consequences," Foxnews.com reported.

The images of horseback patrol teams, those who daily risk their lives to protect the homeland across nearly 2000 miles of rugged territory from illegal entry, drug trafficking, and Mexican cartels invoked, to some, an historical context heightened and vocalized by media organizations, who published the images and suggested these enhanced tactics mirrored America's slavery past.

Department of Homeland Security Address Media

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas addressed members of the media this week during a White House press conference specifically to provide background on permitted tactics and techniques allowed when intersecting and detaining illegal immigrants.

"First of all, the images, as I expressed earlier — the images horrified us in terms of what they suggest and what they conjure up, in terms of not only our nation's history, but, unfortunately, the fact that that page of history has not been turned entirely. And that means that there is much work to do, and we are very focused on doing it," said Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

While the adage 'a picture is work a thousand words,' certainly applies here, the truth behind the image was not included as it blazed across the world's wires. In Del Rio, Texas, more than 15,000 illegal immigrants arrived in a single day bringing the total to nearly 30,000 immigrants. The majority of them were Haitian. They built an encampment under the Del Rio International bridge expecting to enter the United States on demand. Many were not wearing masks or other personal protections and possibly were not concerned about the spread of Covid.

This created a critical instance situation along the border. With the mass arrival, the potential of the spread of Covid, which scientists have indicated the black and brown populations are exponentially more susceptible to the virus, coupled with other communicable diseases, hygiene, pre-existing medical issues among the group, the size of a small town, and the ongoing Latin American migration of illegals, which increase attempted border crossings with any diversion, heightened methods of control were employed.

Agents Reprimanded

Border Horse Patrol teams have been a staple of law enforcement and have often been used as an asset to save lives and crowd control. With the rugged terrain, along the border, horse patrol teams are a natural choice to assist as a deterrent.

What people interrupted from the image may have been far different than the actuality of the scene. However, the fallout remains the same.

Secretary Mayorkas stated to the media, "We ceased the use of horse patrol units in the area. The agents involved in these incidents have been assigned to administrative duties and are not interacting with migrants while the investigation is ongoing."

Illegal Immigration Skyrockets

The Biden Administration has failed miserably in addressing the soaring illegal immigration problem. Brazen Mexican coyote traffickers haul boatloads of illegals in broad daylight across the Rio Grande River depositing the hopeful on American soil. With no border control agents in sight, or U.S. Coast Guard to intercept the boats, they wait in line on the Mexican side of the border prepared to jump and run into the wilderness hoping to get lost and find a better life.

The Haitian immigrant crisis was just one of the many that gain national attention. Nearly every month, another crisis, focusing on the plight of another group of people gains national attention, either by mass or tragedy.

The Wall Works

While not a failsafe, the partially constructed wall, built under former President Donald Trump, has proven to be a deterrent. Border Agents within the area protected by the wall agree, "Of course nothing is impenetrable or foolproof, but the fencing in Yuma, Arizona, is a great example of what works. Since its construction in 2005, it has yielded better than a 90 percent drop in illegal traffic. Similar numbers have been registered at other physical barriers in San Diego, El Paso, Texas, and Tucson, Arizona, since their construction," reported TheHill.com.
