Labor Day – An Unusual Romantic Tearjerker

"Labor Day,” from Indian Paintbrush and Paramount Pictures, presents the story of three people, wounded from the road of life, who for one moment regain the freedom they felt before tragedy took up residence.

“Labor Day” centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele (Kate Winslet) while confronting all the pangs of adolescence.

On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin), a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict.  The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

Not losing the seasonal metaphors, “Labor Day” forces together two middle aged adults who, for whatever reasons, live outside love’s grasp. As fall approached, love seems to arrive and of course bringing with it a no win situation.

“Labor Day” stars Josh Brolin and, a Golden Globe nominated, Kate Winslet.

“Labor Day” is playing in select cities and will open everywhere January 24, 2014.
