The 42nd Moscow International Film Festival Announces Jury, Main Competition Films

On September 21, the first official press conference of the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival took place in the Moscow hotel "Standard." The Jury and film of the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival were announced.

 

The press conference was attended by: Program Director of the Moscow International Film Festival, film critic Kirill Razlogov , director of public relations of the festival Pyotr Shepotinnik , curator of the Free Thought program and the Documentary Film Competition Grigory Libergal and Director General of the Moscow International Film Festival Natalya Semina.

At the press conference, the jury of the main competition and the short film were announced, the films included in the main competition and the documentary film competition were announced, and details of the out-of-competition programs were announced. 


Talking about what the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival will be like, Pyotr Shepotinnik noted that the show takes place for the first time in October, which gives it a "suspense". He also recalled that due to the spread of coronavirus infection, special sanitary measures will be in force at the festival sites, observing social distance, and all screenings will have to be registered in advance.

The jury of the main competition of the Moscow International Film Festival this year included Russian director, producer and screenwriter Timur Bekmambetov (chairman of the jury), director and producer Alexander Yordanescu (Switzerland, Romania), film critic from Great Britain Brian Weiner , Egyptian writer, journalist, director, producer Mahmud Soliman , Russian actress Marina Alexandrova.

The opening film of the festival will be the Russian film "Silver Skates" directed by Mikhail Lokshin, and the film "On the Edge" (Russia) by Eduard Bordukov will close the MIFF.

Speaking about the films from the main competition program, Kirill Razlogov noted that, given the coronavirus and other circumstances, this year, domestic films and films from the near abroad took a significant place in the competition.
