Transparent “Musicale Finale” Reveals Official Trailer for Movie Musical Send-Off

The Transparent "Musicale Finale" takes the beloved Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series to new heights as a dazzling movie fantasia inspired by the classic musicals that shaped a culture while artfully exploring boundaries and grief.

When the Pfeffermans face a life-changing loss, they begin a journey hilarious and melancholy, brazen and bold. As they face this new transition, they confront grief and come together to celebrate connection, joy, and transformation.


Season Five of The Expanse Ordered; Season Four to Premiere December


Created by Jill Soloway, with original music by Faith Soloway, the finale features returning cast including Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Alexandra Billings, Kathryn Hahn, Shakina Nayfack, Trace Lysette, as well as a number of fan favorite characters returning for this special send-off. 

The series is executive produced by Jill Soloway, Faith Soloway, Andrea Sperling, and Joe Lewis.

Jill Soloway is the creator of the groundbreaking Amazon Original series Transparent which received two Golden Globes, 24 Emmy nominations, and eight Emmy awards, including two for Soloway's directing. For the forthcoming series finale, Transparent will transition into a movie musical co-written by Jill Soloway and Faith Soloway. The poignant comedy artfully explores identity, love, sex, God and boundaries through the lives of a complicated American family.

Faith Soloway is a musician and comedic performer with roots in the Chicago comedy scene, most notably as the musical director at The Second City as well as a performer, director, and producer at The Annoyance Theater. She has created various musicals and rock operas such as Jesus Has Two Mommies, Miss Folk America and The Real Live Brady Bunch, which she co-created with her sibling Jill Soloway.

Judith Light is known for her extensive body of television, film and stage work. This fall she stars with Bette Midler and Ben Platt in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series The Politician and in the musical finale of the Golden Globe Award-winning Amazon Original series Transparent, created by Jill Soloway, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination and multiple Emmy and Critics' Choice Award nominations. Last year, her role in Ryan Murphy'sThe Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story garnered her an Emmy nomination and a Critics Choice nomination.

Shakina Nayfack joins the company of Transparent as a guest star, writer, and producer. Originally from Southern California, she has enjoyed an eclectic career as a performer, director, writer, producer, and social activist. In 2015 Shakina became the first transgender woman to receive a Lilly Award recognizing the remarkable contributions to the American Theatre made by women and is a two-time Drama League fellow. In 2016 she joined the cast of the Hulu original comedy series "Difficult People" as the first transgender actress in a comedic role on Television. She also served as a consulting writer on the show.

Alexandra Billings is an actress, singer, author, teacher and activist who has starred on Broadway in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of The Napat the Samuel J. Friedman Theater. Ben Brantley of the The New York Times called her performance "...a sensational Broadway debut..."and "...a marvel of glamorous menace."

Jay Duplass was first recognized in the early 2000s for writing, directing and producing several award-winning independent and studio films with his brother Mark, such as The Puffy Chair ,Cyrus and Jeff, Who Lives At Home In 2014, Jay and Mark created the critically acclaimed television series Togetherness, eventually inking a television deal with HBO where they have since produced Animals and Room 104. The brothers also have an ongoing a multi-Film deal with Netflix for their film production.
