RT Features and Gray first partnered on the sci-fi film Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, and Donald Sutherland. RT developed the film with Gray who directed and co-wrote for New Regency and Fox.

RT Features' Rodrigo Teixeira said: "I am very happy to continue our partnership with James and embark on our second feature together, especially on such an intimate project. It has always been a career dream to work with James."
