Greenwich Steps Up to Bat On Billy Corben’s "Screwball"

Greenwich Entertainment and rakontur announced that Greenwich has acquired U.S. rights to Screwball directed by Billy Corben (Cocaine Cowboys).  The surreal documentary about the Alex Rodriguez/Biogenesis doping saga made its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

After receiving rave review from the TIFF, Screwball played at DocNYC wowing the hometown crowd. Corben and Alfred Spellman produced under their rakontur banner (The U, Dawg Fight).

Penned by Corben and David Cypkin, Screwball is a true-crime dramedy investigating Major League Baseball's infamous doping scandal involving a nefarious clinician and his most famous client: the New York Yankees' Alex Rodriguez.  Greenwich is planning a theatrical release in the spring of 2019 at the start of the new MLB season.

"Billy Corben's wildly entertaining doc is his latest look at a perverse pursuit of the American Dream," said Greenwich's Andy Bohn.  "As Variety noted, Screwball 'suggests what might result if the Monty Python troupe were given carte blanche to produce an investigative report for 60 Minutes.'"

Corben added, "There's nothing like seeing a comedy in the theater and sharing the laughter with your fellow filmgoers. It's been a blast watching film festival audiences react to Screwball and I'm so psyched that Greenwich will bring this experience nationwide."

30WEST negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers with Greenwich Entertainment.
