Pasadena's own Maestro, Vener has been electrifying audiences throughout the world for 54 years; 20 of them right here in the Southland with his acclaimed orchestra, the California Philharmonic.

Their heralded one-of-a-kind concerts and awe-inspiring performances have become a summer tradition to many; whether beneath the stars on a Saturday evening at beautiful Santa Anita Park or during a Sunday afternoon at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, California Philharmonic summer seasons are always memory-making experiences for everyone!

"If only the trees, bushes and ample green grass could talk, and maybe a Peacock or two, the stories they could tell," teased Vener who, known for his pioneering spirit, limitless talent and fierce commitment to bringing the best possible music to the widest possible audience, created the unique outdoor concert venue concept more than three decades ago. "I am proud and humbled to be ending Cal Phil's outdoor concerts on such a high note at what has become Southern California's premiere outdoor concert venue, Santa Anita Race Track. Beneath the magical San Gabriel Valley Mountains and in front of a fantastic audience of thousands of fans, friends and family. While ending our outdoor concerts is bittersweet, we are thrilled to continue to present inspired and enlightening concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall for many many more years."

In addition to working with Santa Anita to turn the lush outfield of The Great Race Place into Cal Phil's luxurious summer home for the past five years, Vener is the masterful mind behind the founding or re-opening of many of the area's most acclaimed concert venues, with a specialty in turning outdoor locales into music destinations. The Arboretum in Arcadia, Descanso Gardens in LaCañada, the Starlight Bowl in Burbank as well as multiple landmarks in Pasadena including the Ambassador, the Rose Bowl and the outside steps of Pasadena City Hall, are among the many local destinations that Vener had a hand in transforming into beloved concert spaces.
