World News: A View from France - COVID-19 Made in USA

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Now a global phenomenon, the coronavirus epidemic could turn into a trap for White House contenders. Viewed from Europe, and from France in particular, because anything said, or judgment will affect the world economy. Whatever...

The election of the next President of the United States today seems as distant as it is uncertain. And due, held in November to come, the Old Continent is more absorbed in managing its own health questions than questions of international policies which will emerge by the end of the year.

Beltway Insider: Trump/Corona Virus, Cases Spike, Structure Weakness, Election 2020: Biden, Sanders

At most, we know that it is probably towards a debate between Joe Biden, the Democrat, and Donald Trump, the Republican that the United States is heading.

Yet this disinterest, which in classic times, without the threat of the coronavirus, would have given way to debates gradually passionate as the deadline approached, could suddenly be reversed due to the global pandemic.

Propagation and Positions

After seeing China, then Europe tremble, it is now the turn of the United States, and more generally of North and South America, to worry about the spread of the virus. In absolute terms, there is nothing dramatic in this if the necessary health precautions are taken.

CORONA VIRUS CASES SPIKE, Declarations Akin to War as Leaders Seek to Slow Spread (National Closures)

But it is above all the capacity and the speed of reaction of the United States, and neighboring States, to stem the epidemic which will be scrutinized with a magnifying glass and in particular the positions of the candidates vis-à-vis the contagion to come. And from these positions will arise the consequences first of the stock market and then economic on a global scale.

Already violently shaken by the spread of the virus, the lack of coordination of the affected states and the difficulties in stemming the virus, the stock markets had fallen sharply not long ago and, moreover, are not immune to a new accident.

The Deadly Corona Virus, a Disease Relative of SARS, Remains Undaunted

If Europe and the world in general have always been attentive to decisions and positions taken across the Atlantic, the scale of the epidemic in a context of globalization pushed to its climax renders the words and actions of North American partners to the essential essentials.

Confidence and Trouble

Certainly, Joe Biden cannot specify that they will be his intentions or decisions if he is elected as is Donald Trump who confines himself to managing the crisis more than to anticipate it.

On the other hand, both know full well that after the summer, or even before, any word or intention could generate either a revival of confidence or a disorder capable of destabilizing the already fragile world economy.

Science Verses Religion - The Unspoken Biblical Association to the COVID-19

This interdependence which now makes each country both an actor and a victim of the economic sphere transforms the slightest event potentially carrying consequences of global scope.

Therefore, the two supposed candidates for the White House know that each of their words concerning the epidemic are likely to precipitate the world, if not in chaos, at least in the concern reinforcing by the same idea and factual reality that the economy today is more a game of power and communication than a science at the service of men.

The responsibility is therefore enormous for the one who will be in a few months at the head of the first economy in the world threatened like others by the emergence of an unknown virus and which is surely only the first of a long series.
