SF Arts: Aquarium of the Bay Wins 2019 Experts' Choice Award

Smithsonian affiliated, Aquarium of the Bay is being awarded the 2019 Experts’ Choice Award by TripExpert announced today on the eve of the Aquarium’s 23rd anniversary of serving the San Francisco community and a beacon for travelers world wide.

With positive reviews from publications including Frommer's, Where and Lonely Planet, Aquarium of the Bay is one of the best-rated attractions in San Francisco on TripExpert. Aquarium of the Bay has also received TripExpert's Best of San Francisco award. According to expert reviewers, it is among the top attractions in San Francisco. 

Experts’ Choice Awards, now in their fourth year, reflect the consensus of journalists and other professional travel writers. More than 1.5 million reviews were taken into account in determining the winners of the 2019 awards. Fewer than 2% of attractions worldwide are receiving the award.

Aquarium of the Bay, an institution of Bay Ecotarium, celebrates its 23rd anniversary tomorrow, commemorating the journey of the Aquarium from a for-profit facility named UnderWater World in 1996 to its merger with The Bay Institute in 2006 that resulted in the formation of bay.org.

For almost 23 years, Aquarium of the Bay has served the San Francisco Bay Area community and provided free education programs to over 30,000 school children annually.

Visited by millions of guests every year, the Aquarium is home to more than 23,000 animals and more than 90 species. Exhibits include the Aquarium’s iconic and magnificent 300-foot long, 750,000-gallon clear tunnels, which reveal much of the Bay Area’s fascinating marine life.
